A new life is full of firsts. From every moment to every mile they have yet to travel. Most children will know three car seats in their lifetime: the infant car seat, convertible car seat, and the booster seat. But what if one car seat could do all three?

Whether you want one car seat that does it all or you prefer a new car seat built for each stage, Nuna has you covered.

In this article we will review our convertible car seat the RAVA™ and our all-in-one car seat the EXEC™. You can decide which one is right for your family.

                    RAVA™ (convertible)                                              EXEC™ (all-in-one)

What do the RAVA™ and the EXEC™ have in common? Both the RAVA™ and the EXEC™ can be used for baby's first ride as they both allow for a minimum weight of 5 lbs.

Other similar features:

  • Steel frame
  • Quick-and-easy install
  • Bamboo-polyester blend knit fabric
  • No-rethread harness
  • Dual flip-open cup holders
  • Energy absorbing foam and side impact protection!
  • Flame retardant free
  • GREENGUARD GOLD certified
  • Fits 3 across in most midsized vehicles
  • FAA aircraft-certified (when used with the harness system)

Don't forget, both the RAVA™ and the EXEC™ come with the car seat base already integrated into the seat, so you don't need to worry about a separate base for installation. The preferred method of installation for both the RAVA™ and the EXEC™ is with the vehicle seat belt rather than the LATCH system, because it eliminates confusion later on. The combined weight of the car seat and the child can not exceed 65 lbs. when using the LATCH system, so sticking with the vehicle seat belt installation is the best way to go.

Now let's check out what makes each of these seats unique and different

  • The RAVA™ car seat is our most popular car seat in our car seat line. The RAVA™ includes 10 headrest positions, 10 recline positions (5 rear facing and 5 forward facing), a one-position calf support that provides a 2-inch extendable leg rest, and harness buckle keepers on each side that hold the harness straps.
  • The EXEC™ offers 12 head rest positions, 8 recline angles (4 rear facing and 4 forward facing), a 2.5 inch extendable leg rest, an anti-rebound panel, and magnetic harness keeper to hold the harness straps. The EXEC™ also comes with a merino wool infant insert, a quilted leg rest slip cover, and an additional GOTS™ certified organic cotton infant insert and harness covers.

So which is better?

Ultimately the decision depends on your family's needs and lifestyle. Most families start with an infant car seat like our PIPA™ infant car seats, which are specifically designed to support a newborn and offers the convenience of portability before the child is able to walk. We generally see families transition their child from the infant car seat around their first birthday.

At this time, you would choose the RAVA™ and then later on, you'll choose a booster seat (like our AACE™ booster seat which offers a no seat back option for bigger kids).

Or you would choose the EXEC™ if you are looking for a one and done option that will be used until your child no longer needs a car seat.

Whichever you decide, you can rest assured that both the RAVA™ and EXEC™ are the safest and highest-quality car seats on the market.
